Dianggap gila, pemuda kutip 1.5 tan sampah di Sungai Selangor (VIDEO)

Masbudi Abdul Malek mengutip purata 300kg hingga 400kg sampah setiap kali membersihkan Sungai Selangor. Paling banyak pernah kutip sehingga 1.5 tan sampah. “Paling banyak jenis domestik seperti plastik, kaca dan polisterin. Kadang kala macam-macam sampah pelik saya jumpa seperti lampu isyarat, tilam,...

At left is Wishesland president Chi Poh Yung. — Photo by Muhammad Rais Sanusi KUCHING: Sarawak’s primary school for special needs children to be set up soon will not follow the existing models implemented by the federal Ministry of Education. Instead, it will be modelled along similar schools in other countries which have proven to be effective and successful, Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah has said. “Sarawak’s own special needs primary schools will not duplicate what the ministry had done – in fact, we’re doing something different entirely. “We’ve benchmarked the various models and practices from other countries, most notably from Australia. One of the key differences is the inclusion of sports elements. Given the chance and the proper training required, we believe that with the inclusion of sports elements to the schools, they (special needs students) can be successful in the field as well,” Fatimah said during a press conference...

Sarawak wants to take over education, health from federal govt

KUCHING: Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg said the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government will seek decentralisation or devolution of authority over education and health matters due to the federal government’s “unsatisfactory” performance in the state. “There is sufficient constitutional authority under Article 95C(1)(b) read with Article 80(4) for the federal government to transfer the executive functions for this matter to the state as well as to provide adequate funding to the state to discharge these executive functions. “I wish to assure this august House that when the powers on education and health are devolved to the state, we will be able to provide the standards of education and health services that would meet the expectations of Sarawakians,” he said in his winding-up speech at the state legislative assembly here today.
