South Koreans keen in setting up factories in Sarawak — Riot

KUCHING: A group of South Korean investors have expressed interest to invest in setting up factories in Sarawak, said Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to East Asia Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem. In a statement issued yesterday, Riot said this was conveyed to him by members of South Korean business community in Malaysia at his office in Putrajaya yesterday. He said four proposals were presented during the meeting, with two of them to set up factories in Sarawak. The proposals are for aluminium pellet production plant, nitrile rubber glove production plant, ammonia processing plant and medical and testing kit production plant. Riot, who is also Serian MP, however did not specify which of those proposals are for Sarawak. “Our meeting touched on their suggestion on increasing South Korean investment in Malaysia. Indeed, there have been many giant companies already investing and setting up factories in Malaysia including Samsung, Hyundai Daelim, Titan and others,” he said. KUCHING: Sarawak mensasarkan satu pingat emas dalam penyertaan sulung sukan elektronik (e-sukan) di Sukan Malaysia (SUKMA) bagi kategori Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) yang dijadualkan berlangsung pada 6 sehingga 14 Mac tahun depan di Johor Bahru. Menteri Muda Belia dan Sukan, Datuk Snowdan Lawan berkata pihaknya meletakkan ketetapan itu selepas meyakini kekuatan pasukan e-sukan Sarawak terletak pada PES dan bukan Dota 2 atau Mobile Legend (ML). KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS)’s HappyGoLucky group emerged champion of the Industry 4.0 (I4.0) Virtual Hackathon East Malaysia 2020. The group participated in the hackathon with their project titled ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) Defective Global Tracker’ and went home with RM5,000. The prize was presented by Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan at the Hackathon’s closing ceremony held at D-Virtual Park in Jalan Meranek here on Sunday (Oct 18).
