KUCHING: The Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) has commended Serba Dinamik Group’s efforts in creating a virtual reality (VR) park in Kota Samarahan for the benefit of the people in the area and beyond. “All big and successful business groups should emulate Serba Dinamik Group’s actions in doing good for the society,” urged MPKS chairman Datuk Peter Minos yesterday. He said that representatives from Serba Dinamik Group had met with and briefed MPKS councillors and senior staff members on their upcoming virtual reality park D-Virtual Park, located in Kota Samarahan on the way to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak’s old campus. Teraju visits upcoming virtual park in Kota Samarahan

KUCHING: Bumiputera Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju) yesterday visited and attended a sharing session of D-Virtual Park, the first virtual park with hologram in Malaysia by Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad in Kota Samarahan near here. D-Virtual Park is also the first in Malaysia to have a digital-concept incubator for business start-ups. Teraju’s visiting delegation was led by its chief executive officer Md Silmi Abd Rahman. Present to welcome them were Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad director Datuk Abdul Kadier Sahib and Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) deputy chief scientist Prof Dr Al-Khalid Othman. D-Virtual Park is a joint-effort between Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad and business start-up hub Startup Borneo. ‘Limbang Waterfront project to be completed by 2021’

LIMBANG: The RM60-million Limbang Waterfront upgrading project is expected to be fully completed by 2021. In stating this, Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the project was divided into two phases. “Limbang will have the longest waterfront in Sarawak once the waterfront project with a total length of 1.6km is fully completed by 2021. “This Limbang Waterfront would be the main development icon for the people here,” he said when met during the presentation of Limbang Waterfront Upgrading Project Phase 2 Contract at Limbang District Council yesterday. The Bukit Kota assemblyman said phase one of the project was progressing well. The one-km phase one project costing RM30 million is expected to complete by July next year, he added. SIBU: The State Transport Ministry will look to organise a technical lab to improve public transportation in Sarawak, its minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin said. He told a press conference following a closed-door briefing with Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) personnel here yesterday, that his ministry is determined to improve riverine transportation in the state. “As we all know, Sarawak is the land of many rivers. We have 35 gazetted rivers in Sarawak. Out of the number, six major rivers are in thecentral region. “Thus in central region, riverine transportation plays an important role in the movement of goods and the people. My ministry together with the SRB headquarters will seriously look into how to improve riverine transportation not only in the central region but throughout Sarawak,” he said. KUCHING: Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah hopes that digital technology such as Virtual Reality (VR) will revolutionise the way the tourism industry operates in future. Speaking during the Beyond Paradigm Summit 2019 held at a hotel here last week, he said through VR technology tourists will be able to experience the destination of their choice even before making the trip. “This technology is especially helpful for elderly group of travellers who wish to travel to adventurous destination such as caves, underwater, mountainous areas and rainforest but are limited by their physical ability, health and age.
