KOTA KINABALU: Having only begun operating for four months, the Sabah Creative Economy and Innovation Centre has achieved several accomplishments in fostering an innovative and resilient community despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Highlights include the concept of Augmented Reality (AR) or Virtual Reality (VR) in tourism, pushing for innovation among locals, and establishing a partnership with the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC). The centre's general manager Viviantie Sarjuni said the AR/VR Tourism idea was picked to be among the top 10 in the Startup Weekend online organised by Techstar - an American seed accelerator founded in 2006 in Boulder, Colorado. The idea is to make changes to a person's perception of their physical surroundings when viewed through a particular device. ‘Bandung a great smart city model’

KUCHING: Bandung serves as the best model for Kuching in its transformation into becoming a smart city. KUALA LUMPUR: Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd's latest acquisition could serve as a cornerstone for the group to build its operations and penetrate the North Sea Market, says AmInvestment Bank research. The research house, which has a "buy" call and fair value of RM2.20 on Serba Dinamik, said the purchase of Wellahead Engineering is in line with the group's expansion strategy. "The group remains on the prowl for further value-enhancing acquisitions to expand its oil & gas maintenance-focused expertise and technical capabilities into existing markets while aggressively venturing into new geographical locations," it said. The UK's Daily Business reported that Serba Dinamik is purchasing an 80% stake in Wellahead Engineering, an Aberdeen-based precision engineering service provider for the North Sea oil & gas industry, for £1.5mil (RM8mil) cash. Wellahead commenced operations in 1998 and employs 15 staff. In FY19 it generated revenue of £2.5mil with EBITDA margin of 16% and net profit margin of 12%. KUCHING: Sixty boxes of various food items have been donated to Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) for its councillors and staff members who helped directly in the enforcement of the movement control order (MCO) and conditional movement control order (CMCO). KUALA LUMPUR: Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd has purchased Petroliam Nasional Bhd’s (Petronas) fabrication yard in Teluk Ramunia, Johor, for RM320 million. The global integrated engineering services provider said the 68.78-hectare yard had the capacity to perform steel fabrication of offshore platforms and other structures of up to 50,000 tonnes. “Due to its close proximity with Petronas’ Refinery and Petrochemical Integrated Development (RAPID), an integrated oil and gas hub in Pengerang, the proposed acquisition represents an opportunity for the Serba Dinamik group to venture into the marine and offshore services segment in a strategic location,” the offshore upstream player said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Friday.
