KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg says Sarawak government is ready to cooperate with the federal government in education for the sake of the future of the youth
He was speaking at the 25th National Education Convention dinner held at a local hotel yesterday. He commented that the government has taken steps to assist the federal Ministry of Education.
Among them are offering RM1 billion loan to the federal government to repair dilapidated schools in Sarawak and allocating RM1 billion for upgrading the connectivity of Sarawak’s internet.
“What is important is that Sarawak has all the infrastructure that is needed for the students and their education. This is why we need to work with the federal government on this,” he added.
Abang Johari added that efforts to implement proper infrastructure especially in education for the state is hard because Sarawak is geographically vast. Abang Johari nevertheless is confident that with the Sarawak’s resources this could be achieved.
Meanwhile during the dinner, Sarawak Principal’s Council protem head Robert Bedali said that he is grateful for the efforts of the Sarawak government in improving the education facilities in the state.
