Sarawak Malay Cultural Seminar begins this Oct
KUCHING (October 24): The Sarawak Cultural Malay Foundation (AKYBMS) will be organising the Sarawak Malay Cultural Seminar in collaboration with the State government from 29 to 31st October.
General Manager of AKYBMS, Datu Dr Sanib Said told The Borneo Post that the 7th Malay Cultural Seminar’s theme would be ‘Managing Culture in the Digital Era’.
To date 800 participants from the Malay, Anaq Vaie and Jati Meirek communities have confirmed their participation.
Sanib detailed that they will using different approach this year, whereby participants will be given more room to make themselves heard by organising a forum styled seminar.
“There will be eight forums: History, religion and culture; Politics; Education’ Economy’ Social’ Rural Development; NGO Leadership; and Youth,” he said, adding that many elected representative will be made moderators while the panelists would comprise of professionals and academicians.
“We are anticipating very hot discussion because the topics chosen will be very close to the heart of the participants,” he said.
On the much debated topic of the Land Code Amendment 2018, Dr Sanib stressed that the organiser have decided to bring the Sarawak attorney general Datuk Dr Talat Mahmood Abdul Rasid to present it in the 6th forum under the rural development slot.
